The challenge
The retailer had strong brand loyalty in Belgium but had never successfully expanded sales into neighboring markets. Paid campaigns in France and the Netherlands underperformed, and email marketing was limited to generic newsletters with declining engagement.
The strategy
We rebuilt the paid media strategy around market-specific creative and landing pages, layered in SEO for high-intent product and category terms in each target language, and restructured email around lifecycle segments instead of a single broadcast list.
Overview
The retailer’s earlier attempts at international growth treated new markets as a translation exercise. Campaigns underperformed because they carried Belgian assumptions about pricing sensitivity, messaging, and channel preference into markets that behaved differently.
Approach
We ran market-specific research before building anything, then developed distinct creative, offers, and landing experiences for France and the Netherlands rather than adapting a single template. SEO and paid media were sequenced together so every euro of paid spend also strengthened long-term organic visibility.
Outcome
Cross-border revenue more than doubled within a year, with acquisition costs falling as organic and lifecycle email channels matured alongside paid media.
“Workxcreative didn't just translate our campaigns into French and Dutch. They rebuilt them for how customers in each market actually shop. That distinction is why this worked.”
